Parts problem

Review by (Posted on 1/28/14)
A couple of weak connectors failed and could have allowed the chair to collapse if we had not noticed it. The manual did not show enough detail on the parts so make it easy to figure out the problem or to order a replacement part. Except for this problem, the chair has been a good value for the money.

Good ride

Review by (Posted on 1/27/14)
I found the chair to be what I needed to enjoy my vacation. The only drawback to the chair that I had was that the seat didn't breath and in the heat you got sweaty and uncomfortable on the backside.

Great Value for Price

Review by (Posted on 1/27/14)
Great value for price. Easy to get in and out of back seat of car. Folds up and opens easily. Relatively lightweight. Seat starts to sag after a year or so, but a cushion will extend its life. Own two, one for home and one for car. Not confined to wheelchair, so use mostly for getting back and forth to other chairs to sit on. Would want a more comfortable chair if I were confined to it. This one works great, though, if you just need something durable to help you get around.

Excellent chair for my use

Review by (Posted on 1/27/14)
Very easy for me to use, also very easy for my wife to push me around. Well balanced. I use this chair to maneuver in small stores where I cannot go with my scooter or electric wheelchair. I am very happy with this purchase.

Great value

Review by (Posted on 5/28/13)
We purchased this chair when going on a trip to Disney World. It's a great value (and trust me, I did a lot of research and comparisons). We loved that we could get the wider seat since it was much more comfortable and offered a bit of space to store things next to us.

The only drawbacks that we found were that it was heavier than expected, the swingout leg hinges hit the backs of the legs which can be painful, and the front wheels are large and don't allow turning when moving when closed.

The biggest positives were the cost, the features, the sturdiness, and the options available.

All in all, we were able to purchase a great chair to own and cost less than what it would have to rent one - and it's ours to keep!

Thanks 1-800-wheelchair.com and Invacare!

Easy for my husband to collapse and put in trunk of regular passenger car. Great quality and durability for the money. I am unable to walk long distances (e.g., sports arenas, shopping mall, big box stores, etc.) due to lung disease, and this chair is perfect for me. Used it to shop all over NYC.

Great product for the price.

Your Best Bet!

Review by (Posted on 5/5/13)
The Invacare Tracer EX2 is not my first experience with wheelchairs, but is the first that I have needed for my own use. I purchased it based on reviews here, most notably that of "Chris" the hospital maintenance man. I could not agree more with his assessment.

The welds are of good quality, the chair rolls freely, and it folds readily yet opens into a very rigid platform. This is not a light chair, but a steel frame lends itself readily to MIG welding, and practically begs for customizing. I will post pix, if possible, of any mods made here.

The chrome plating is of barely adequate quality for all but strictly indoor use, but an application of car wax every so often will keep corrosion at bay. The optional removable armrests wobble a bit due to loose tolerances, but they allow quick and easy removal/installation while seated. I believe that for an active person, they are well worth the added, and quite reasonable price.

The optional elevated leg rests are well designed, and function smoothly, but if you are especially tall or long legged you may find that they are simply too short. An extra 2 inches of adjustability would be most welcome by me, and extensions will have to be fabricated before I can use them. This will not be complex, or expensive, but would not be difficult to offer as optional equipment.

A cushion may be mandatory here. I weigh 40# less than the chair is rated for, but in 1 week the seat stretched until the frame can be felt. It is possible that the design is not flawed, and that the materials are simply out of specification... and possibly only for 1 batch. Be prepared for the added expense, the added comfort will be welcome in any case.

The included manual is reasonably clear, and concise.

I have purchased/built a wide variety of equipment, and I very rarely see this level of value in economy priced gear. I am not only pleasantly surprised, but very impressed with both the design and build quality. I would recommend this chair to anyone that must take price into consideration. 4.750 stars, without reservation.

The only reason I can think of that the chair creaks is because my boyfriend pushes me through hills and grass. It does not do well in fast paces, either. Otherwise --- very comfy and goes over cracks and minor daily bumps well and safely. Love this one!

Great chair

I use this chair for off reading. it handles grass and dirt paths just fine and allows me to relax as I'm being pushed. I suffer from arthritis head to toe, and this chair has been a blessing. The only 'bad' things would be it is a wide set chair (but that is a must so it goes off reading) and the front wheels get stuck when you try to move the chair while it's folded... not a big deal really.

Grandpa needed new reliable wheels

Review by (Posted on 1/27/12)
I work in a hospital and maintain everything from x-ray to wheelchairs. When I saw the wheelchair my grandfather was previously using I became worried that it was going to fail. I knew that it needed to be replaced. I purchased the tracer ex2 because, from my experience, I've found these chairs are very durable and easy to maintain if they need it. Invacare is a great brand and I highly recommend it. One suggestion I do make is that if the person who is going to use the chair is tall or a little wide get the wider chairs so they are more comfortable. My grandfather loves his so much he actually got another for everyday use at the nursing home. As a technician and a family member I could not recommend a better chair for the price.

I would by this product again any time.

Purchased for my daughter to use during her first of 2 surgeries she needs to correct foot problems.
One foot was to be done at each surgery. She is an active teen and used the wheelchair to go out with friends, at the mall, movies, and visiting with relatives over the holidays. She also used it around the house when her crutches were bothering her wrist and arms. The wheelchair folds up nicely and is not to heavy to pick up and put in car. The seat is comfortable and the chair is easy to use. The price is good.

My mother isn't getting around well, she's 81 years old. She was unable to go to the malls and fairs and such. Now she is able to go, shop, look around and she isn't fatigued like she used to get after just 15 minutes of walking. It is great.
I also purchased the cushion which she likes, the side pouch- which doesn't fit well and rubs, and the cup holder which doesn't attach at all well.

Lightweight and easy to use

seat gets a little uncomfortable but a small pillow to sit on helps with that.

Great deal for the price

Review by (Posted on 10/22/11)
Loved the option to get the extra wide seat and the arms so that we could get up to tables. It was a great deal for the price.

Only a few things that we would improve on.

First, we didn't like that the front wheels were so large. They made it hard to maneuver the chair when folded because they hit each other.

Second, we didn't like that the release latches for the footrests were on the inside of the chair which hit the back/side of the legs if you let them rest downward.

Third, some parts that hold and support the arms are plastic which caused us to not really want to rely on putting a lot of weight on the arms for fear that the plastic would break.

Last, it was heavier than we expected.

All in all though - we're very happy with the purchase. (We just wish the accessories were more reasonably priced!)

A very nice wheelchair and a great value

Review by (Posted on 10/21/11)
This was purchased for a 78-year-old woman making the transition to assisted living. Recent health problems had left her in need of at least a walker and on most days a wheelchair. The Invacare Tracer EX2 is a *great* value for a very decent product. The only complaint I might have is that it is heavy, which makes it a challenge to get it in and out of a car for a person with reduced upper body strength. For all other purposes it seems to be fine.

PRETTY DECENT VALUE FOR MONEY. ALTHOUGH SOME ASPECTS OF IT LOOK CHEAPLY MADE, IN FACT IT HAS HELD UP WELL SO FAR (4 MONTHS). A BIT BOUNCY ON ANYTHING BUT THE SMOOTHEST PAVEMENT, BUT FOR THE PRICE, DECENT VALUE.
