Comments about Invacare Invacare 12" Rear Wheel Transport Chair, 19 lbs.:

We are first time users of this type of chair and found it very easy to use. If there is one issue that seems worthy to mention, it's the awkward handling of the foot rests. They have to be removed for the chair to be stored in the trunk of our car. A minor inconvenience.

Comments about Invacare Invacare 12" Rear Wheel Transport Chair, 19 lbs.:

I bought this chair for my mother originally to take her to my nephew's graduation. We use it to go to [...], the mall, to goof around a Branson, to the Doctor's office, and any other little trips we want to make. I did buy the seat cushion and she says it is very comfortable. I think I will invest in back pack before summer. My mother can walk some, but gets tired. This chair has been a great solution. It gets a lot harder use than I intially had thought it would, but it has held up well. It is easy to load in and out of the car.

Comments about Invacare Invacare 12" Rear Wheel Transport Chair, 19 lbs.:

This is the second travel/transport wheel chair that I have owned. It is just a great chair. It is easy to fold and unfold. It loads easily into our small car. I have health problems and use a few days a month. We also use it for my mom who is a spry 86 year old mom who had hip surgery. Regardless of who is in the chair, my service dog finds it easy to walk beside since it is so compact, she does not swing wide to miss getting rolled over. We go on assessable hiking trails and she uses it as a walker until she is tired then she hops in and we push it for a while. We have logged miles doing this. The one negative is pretty easy to fix. There is no strap that holds the folded chair shut. It would be easier to travel with if there was one.

I purchased this chair for my husband who had a stroke and it is difficult to walk any distance and tires easily. I wanted something small and light to get around the house and going to the doctor. A chair that goes thru doors with ease. It is just what we can use.

We wish we'd known about this sooner. It's affordable, lightweight and easy to store. It's the perfect alternative to the regular, heavy-duty wheelchair our son uses. The only downside is we had to purchase a cushion since the seat would be uncomfortable for long-term sitting.

We use this chair as a back-up to a walker for my 92 yo mother-in-law. When she's too tired to walk we pull this out of the trunk. Compact, easy to store. The local medical shop even ordered one for the store!

It's REALLY useful going up front porch steps-stable and not scary for the m-i-l. SO glad we have it...

Comments about Invacare Invacare 12" Rear Wheel Transport Chair, 19 lbs.:

I was one of those that received the older version with the flat tires. The chair is great, sturdy and very transportable. However, I only gave it 3 stars because I am constantly refilling the tires. And the inlet valve that takes the air is in such an odd position, I can't just take it to the gas station to refill it. This means I have to lug my air compressor to my parents house to refill with air each time. When I called to order for new tires, the tires cost as much as the wheelchair..no thanks!

Comments about Invacare Invacare 12" Rear Wheel Transport Chair, 19 lbs.:

The chair may be a bit uncomfortable, but that is easily taken care of with a cushion, so all in all, this is a great chair. Fits in my SUV and in my Mid-Size car trunk, and that’s without folding down the chair’s back-rest. It has a great turn radius, so it’s easy to use in those tight turns. The air tires make it easy going on most terrains, but I did find them a bit hard to fill. However, I got a handheld air pump, the kind you use on sport balls and that has worked wonderfully. The hand breaks are also a great plus, no need to bend down to trigger them, they are right there at hand. I can’t tell you how many people at have asked were I have purchased it,[...]

Comments about Invacare Invacare 12" Rear Wheel Transport Chair, 19 lbs.:

The weight never includes the foot rests!! That's not fair and misleading.
It is difficult to back up because the front wheels get in the way. Only the more expensive styles resolve this problem. The big back wheels are a tremendous improvement for street use over 8" wheels for comfort and ease of movement.
I wish there was a very lightweight and low priced foldup chair that could be user driven so I wouldn't be dependent on transport style chairs.

1-800-Wheelchair Response: We try hard to give accurate, proper information. Please note the difference between ‘chair weight’ and ‘frame weight’. Chair weight includes the foot rests and wheels. Call or email with questions. Often, we will weigh wheelchair ourselves.

Comments about Invacare Invacare 12" Rear Wheel Transport Chair, 19 lbs.:

I liked the larger wheels on the back that are not available on some models.
The fold down back rest is a definite plus in getting it in the car and storing it.
Also liked the ease of use of the squeeze grip brakes on the handles--easy to lock and unlock quickly.
I opted to get a separate gel seat cushion for comfort. Wheel chairs can get pretty uncomfortable if you sit in them any length of time.

Comments about Invacare Invacare 12" Rear Wheel Transport Chair, 19 lbs.:

This is the ideal wheelchair for getting someone to and from the hospital, doctors' appointments, and other visits and errands. It folds up to fit in my compact car, is lightweight enough for a small person to handle, and the brakes are out of reach for the patient (no runaways or crushed toes)! The only use I would not recommend it, or any other small wheeled transport chair for, is for walks on the boardwalk. We have the fire-engine red model and this feature alone is worth the price; it's beautiful finish sets it apart and it cannot be mistaken for the hospital's or most other peoples.' This product is one of the best things our family has purchased!

We bought this to use when I had to transport my parents to various appointments and they were unable to walk on their own. I was straining my back trying to lift their regular wheelchair, and had a tough time fitting it in the trunk of my little car. This is lighweight, easy to handle and fits nicely in my trunk. We're not using it now - both parents are ambulatory now, but I'm glad we have it on hand.

Comments about Invacare Invacare 12" Rear Wheel Transport Chair, 19 lbs.:

We purchased the WC to take on a cruise to transport my 91 year old mother the long distances on a cruise ship. It was not used from time of delivery until the cruise, once we set it up to use the back tires had lost a lot of air and were soft but useable, luckily we could get them inflated on the ship. By the end of the 10 days the tires had lost some air again, I have purchased a bike tire pump to have when the WC needs to be used again.
