The weight never includes the foot rests!! That's not fair and misleading.
It is difficult to back up because the front wheels get in the way. Only the more expensive styles resolve this problem. The big back wheels are a tremendous improvement for street use over 8" wheels for comfort and ease of movement.
I wish there was a very lightweight and low priced foldup chair that could be user driven so I wouldn't be dependent on transport style chairs.
1-800-Wheelchair Response: We try hard to give accurate, proper information. Please note the difference between ‘chair weight’ and ‘frame weight’. Chair weight includes the foot rests and wheels. Call or email with questions. Often, we will weigh wheelchair ourselves.

The TRANSPORTER is the only means of transportation for my wife of 60 years. It's convenient to take her shopping, eating out as it fits nicely uunder tables and easily fits in car trunk. It takes her from the bed to anywhere she wishes to sit becaus of its many excellent features. Without it we wouldn't still be together at home. And we plan to keep using them for many mor years.

Purchased the Invacare Transport Chair for use on a cruise. It cost the same to rent as it did to buy so we bought. The Invacare Transport Chair was a life saver on the cruise and was handy through the airport as well. Nothing bad to say about the Invacare Transport Chair.

I liked the larger wheels on the back that are not available on some models.
The fold down back rest is a definite plus in getting it in the car and storing it.
Also liked the ease of use of the squeeze grip brakes on the handles--easy to lock and unlock quickly.
I opted to get a separate gel seat cushion for comfort. Wheel chairs can get pretty uncomfortable if you sit in them any length of time.

This is the ideal wheelchair for getting someone to and from the hospital, doctors' appointments, and other visits and errands. It folds up to fit in my compact car, is lightweight enough for a small person to handle, and the brakes are out of reach for the patient (no runaways or crushed toes)! The only use I would not recommend it, or any other small wheeled transport chair for, is for walks on the boardwalk. We have the fire-engine red model and this feature alone is worth the price; it's beautiful finish sets it apart and it cannot be mistaken for the hospital's or most other peoples.' This product is one of the best things our family has purchased!

We bought this to use when I had to transport my parents to various appointments and they were unable to walk on their own. I was straining my back trying to lift their regular wheelchair, and had a tough time fitting it in the trunk of my little car. This is lighweight, easy to handle and fits nicely in my trunk. We're not using it now - both parents are ambulatory now, but I'm glad we have it on hand.

Purchased the chair for elderly husband who is having difficultly walking. Great to use for appointments and outings because it is so light weight. However, tires are continously flat, I've had to have the tires inflated with every use,on several occasions had them go flat during an outing. Making it very difficult to maneuver.
1-800-Wheelchair Response: This chair now comes with flat-free tires, which require no air or pumps. In response to calls about the tire air pressure, we reported the issue to Invacare and worked out this solution. Thanks for relating your concerns.

Store it in trunk of car most of time. Due to light weight, collapses in small shape, easily pops open and closes, very convenient to use, in and out of stores etc. Easy maneuverability.

We purchased the WC to take on a cruise to transport my 91 year old mother the long distances on a cruise ship. It was not used from time of delivery until the cruise, once we set it up to use the back tires had lost a lot of air and were soft but useable, luckily we could get them inflated on the ship. By the end of the 10 days the tires had lost some air again, I have purchased a bike tire pump to have when the WC needs to be used again.

Problem 1: There are no bicycle pumps now available that can be used to fill the rear tires, because of limited access to the valves.
Problem 2: The front wheels do not swivel over 360 degrees.

We use when we go out to dinner, etc. It's great but the tires don't seem to want to stay inflated and it is hard to inflate because of the small size of the tires. I wuldn't have bought chair if I had known it had inflateable tires.
